Bunka-sai, the Japanese style festival
Inspired by the familiar “bunka-sai” (cultural festival) of Japanese schools, JACOP holds an annual event in the fall at the SAKB/Ontmoeting facility. The festival embraces the motto “do what you want to do” rather than being strictly “Japanese,” aiming to be an enjoyable event for both participants and visitors.
Various activities take place in different rooms, including music, performances, and workshops. High school students also join with performances and sales of goods, creating a lively and festive atmosphere throughout the day. The event also fosters connections with Chinese organizations and local Dutch communities, promoting international ties.

Participation in Amstelveen’s international exchange
JACOP actively participates in international exchange events in Amstelveen, a city with a diverse, multinational population. In addition to organizing its own events, JACOP supports announcements for Ontmoeting events and those of its partner Chinese organization, IPCF, helping to build networks. It also takes part in city-hosted events such as the Cherry Blossom Festival and Connect@, fostering connections between Japanese and Dutch communities.
